is the Australian Talent Management agency good?
Fri, 6 July 2007, 12:06 pmRecently an extras/acting/modelling agency called Australian Talent Management (ATM) has been advertising current castings all over Australia-wide online job listings. I have been in contact with them regarding a TV series being filmed on the Gold Coast, but I can't find any information on them (other then their job listings and website).
Does anyone know this agency? Is it another NOTM?
I'm a bit concerned. They allow for a free listing on their website but in order to actually be presented to clients, they suggest you upgrade to a $100 yearly membership. I was in touch with NOTM a year ago and I recall they had a very similar system of membership.
If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated. I suspect there will soon be an increase in interest in this agency following the recent spate of casting listings.
Let's get the facts straight
Wed, 18 July 2007, 09:30 pmI’m afraid it is going to take a little bit more then a few harsh (if not misdirected) words to throw me off.
Now let’s review the facts shall we:
First: My website has a link to Dare2Audition, just as it has a link to the ITA website and the FTI website. If you would examine where the links are it says “We highly recommended these websites for those wishing to start in the entertainment industry:” These are not my websites, these are site I have used and been apart of either through acting or for my companies. The entire posting you have just made is from the D2D website, not mine. Only my welcome is from my website.
Second: I meant what I said about “The reason I started running companies is because people told me that I was too young, too inexperienced, not funded and didn't have the education behind me…all the while these people are stuck in jobs they hate, flipping burgers, focusing on their studies, or not even doing anything.” It also finishes with “I could never justify doing that to a person and will encourage you to achieve your full potential. Please enjoy this site and have a fantastic day.” My company “Dragon Films” is a production house, not an agency. If a person would like something from the entertainment industry or requires my company to make something for them we are able to help out.
Third: I am a free member of Dare2Audition, I have not signed up as a member or company. I am happy to let others know that work is available. Helen, who is the owner and creator of the website, is a good friend of mine, but I have no affiliations with the website apart from posting auditions.
Fourthly: My first post on this issue is sound advice. An upfront fee is illegal and some agents do ask for money for photos and putting people on the website; however you may ask the agent to take this “fee” out of your first job, that way there is a incentive for the agent to find you work otherwise they will not take you on their books. Your comments “Unlike you Mr Green we are a team of highly trained very experienced people and have a huge amount of funding. Enough money to sue you, for defamatory comments like the ones you posted.” Like I have said I was not attacking you company, I was only stating that if people want to get an agent, to DO THEIR RESEARCH.
Fifthly: The ITA website is a forum of discussion where people like kuraiza can ask the questions like “Is this agency legit?” I merely gave some information about a pervious “agent” who posted on a job website and what kuraiza could do to see that she is not ripped off like I was.
Even your comments Thomas are valid here because it shows people where you come from; the same as my comments. Now if you do not like my comments you are entitled to your opinions, but you do not have the right to say you will sue me for deformation when the entire posting you have just done is for the wrong site. I did try to research your website but when I typed it into Google you were not there. This is another reason why I did not attack your agency personally because there was not enough information, so I gave advice to people regarding agents.
I would also like to thank Na for defending me. It is really appreciated. :)
I hope everyone will have an opinion to continue on…but in the mean time…
Keep Smiling :)
