User Data Deletion

Effective date: January 2025

You have the right to request the deletion of your Theatre Australia account and associated personal data at any time. This page explains how to make a request, what data will be removed, and what data is retained in de-personalised form to preserve the integrity of the community archive.

How to Request Account Deletion

To request deletion of your account and personal data, please send an email to:

privacy@theatreaustralia.com.au

Please use the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include the email address associated with your Theatre Australia account. We will confirm receipt of your request and process it within 30 days.

What Data Is Deleted

Upon confirmed deletion of your account, the following personal data is permanently and irreversibly removed from our systems:

• Your name, email address, and all profile information
• Your login credentials and any linked social accounts (Google, Facebook)
• Your profile picture and any biographical details you provided
• Private messages and personal notifications
• Any saved preferences or account settings

What Data Is Retained

Some content may be retained in a de-personalised form in order to preserve the integrity of the community archive and comply with our legal obligations:

• Forum posts: your forum contributions will remain visible to preserve discussion threads, but will be re-attributed to "Deleted User". No personal identifying information will be associated with these posts after deletion.
• Production and company listings: if you contributed theatre company profiles, production listings, or audition notices, this information forms part of the historical community record and will be retained without personal attribution to you.
• Legal and compliance records: records required to be retained under applicable Australian law (including financial and tax records where relevant) will be kept for the legally mandated period.

Facebook Login Users

If you authenticated using Facebook and wish to revoke Theatre Australia's access to your Facebook data, you can do so directly from your Facebook account under Settings > Security and Login > Apps and Websites. Revoking access via Facebook will prevent us from accessing your Facebook profile data going forward, but will not automatically delete your Theatre Australia account or its associated data. To fully delete your account, please also submit a deletion request as described above.

Timeframe

We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving your confirmed request. You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is complete.
