is the Australian Talent Management agency good?
Fri, 6 July 2007, 12:06 pmRecently an extras/acting/modelling agency called Australian Talent Management (ATM) has been advertising current castings all over Australia-wide online job listings. I have been in contact with them regarding a TV series being filmed on the Gold Coast, but I can't find any information on them (other then their job listings and website).
Does anyone know this agency? Is it another NOTM?
I'm a bit concerned. They allow for a free listing on their website but in order to actually be presented to clients, they suggest you upgrade to a $100 yearly membership. I was in touch with NOTM a year ago and I recall they had a very similar system of membership.
If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated. I suspect there will soon be an increase in interest in this agency following the recent spate of casting listings.
First of all, the above
Sun, 29 July 2007, 05:15 pmFirst of all, the above proves nothing. Getting a domain name in QLD when you work in VIC is above board. This says nothing about their work practices, it's just common sense to get a domain name that is cheap. Registering a dot com instead of a dot com.au is also cheaper, and means that you will come up in international searches far easier. Secondly, you pay for domain registration per year, and some businesses prefer to pay per year than per three/ten years (most web hosts offer those three options; one year/three years/ten years). Thirdly, when buying a domain name you must give out your business details (quite personal information, not just your email address and name) to register. This information goes into a searchable online index, which anyone with google could find. This is highly annoying in terms of privacy, so web hosts offer a 'privacy' option, which means anyone who does a search on a domain name sees the web hosts contact info and not the business who purchased the domain name.
The above applies to legit companies as well as it does to dodgy ones, because it is common business practice. Your comments prove nothing about ATM except that they are following normal domain name registration practices.
(How would I know? I bought my own domain name - from a company in NSW, when I am in VIC. I had to do exactly the same registrations, and pay for my domain name one year at a time. PS. GoDaddy is a US based web host)
