WAAPA auditions
Thu, 22 Sept 2005, 05:43 pmI was thinking if anyone can suggest any cool stuff for waapa auditions? i was thinking something more modern..cause all of the new dance mix musicals (let us rock you and saturday fever) have pop stuff in them.
maybe something by the fugees or cold chisel? killing me softly or choir girl? will they like that ?
or should i stick to anthem and this is the moment?>
thanks,
seb

fair enough too...i wouldn't want it to be rock-infested either! (and i appreiciate your opinion. and i didn't think you were being rude)
but, let's face it, it's going to be rock-influenced at the very least.
the music theatre of 'ago' came during a period that srpung out of operetta and G&S style song writing.
now, we have so many other styles of music to draw on, and thus the genre is able to widen considerably while still fitting into the old perameters. while ever there is storytelling and characters and messages to get across to an audience, music theatre will never be a rock infested genre. but by god, it will be a jazz, blues, rock, pop, classical, art song, lieder, operetta, soul, social, theatrically influenced one!
and thank god for that too!
