WAAPA AUDITIONS!!
Fri, 7 Oct 2005, 11:49 pmUm hi guys! wow what an amazing forum! I am, like so amazed how much you guys all know about like, acting and stuff! I heard off my friend dulcie at the clinic that waapa was doing auditions for people soon.... my mum has always said i'm such a character, and I was thinking, i reckon i could be a performer in a big hollywood musical! i cant really sing that good - only in the shower using my shampoo as the microphone!! haha I heard they teach you singing and stuff at the academy, so yeh. I reckon it wud be wicked to be in a place where everyone is so talented and amazing singers. I wanted to get advice on my audition.... I started writing my audition monologue and me and my friend sharon, who did ballet until she was, like, 14, is helping mewith a creative dance...how long should it be? and is it cool if i wear my leotard? what do you people reckon?>

I am confused here. WAAPA Musical Theatre course comprises singing, acting and dance.
WHY is the importance put on singing alone. I thought it should be equal in the audition. BUT the dance is only held when you get a call back. Surely they can see potential in all areas and judge on the overall performance and abilities at the first audition.
If its based on singing WHY isnt it a singing course like the CON.
I have seen some BA perfomances and they were very average and some were down right pathetic in movement.
Der what are they thinking. All other musical theatre course audition all three disciplines. Maybe thats why only a few make the big time, they concentrate so much on singing that no one has the whole package
