WAAPA AUDITIONS!!
Fri, 7 Oct 2005, 11:49 pmUm hi guys! wow what an amazing forum! I am, like so amazed how much you guys all know about like, acting and stuff! I heard off my friend dulcie at the clinic that waapa was doing auditions for people soon.... my mum has always said i'm such a character, and I was thinking, i reckon i could be a performer in a big hollywood musical! i cant really sing that good - only in the shower using my shampoo as the microphone!! haha I heard they teach you singing and stuff at the academy, so yeh. I reckon it wud be wicked to be in a place where everyone is so talented and amazing singers. I wanted to get advice on my audition.... I started writing my audition monologue and me and my friend sharon, who did ballet until she was, like, 14, is helping mewith a creative dance...how long should it be? and is it cool if i wear my leotard? what do you people reckon?>
thanks so much guys!

CERT MT

That really pisses me off when I heard the comment that the CERT kids need to go away for a year or 2 to see how they go before they get into the BA.
What happens to those who are from interstate and uproot everything to make Perth their home , but can only stay a year cos the powers that be reckon they should go practice somewhere else after the CERT.
I think it is bullshit that these people think that kids have the money to go do every friggin course and pay for tuition and go overseas for experience. My mate did the cert course a few years ago. Have loads of experience in pro-am theatre, had been in musicals for years before hand but wanted the BA so badly but they said you gotta go and experience the world. How much more world do they want. They play God
The idea of studying and doing a course is to learn, to prepare yourself for the big auditions and to improve your abilities. The introductory is the foundation and the BA is a building. Dont you think the teachers can see if a kid has got the passion and ability to go on further.
You dont see a doctor doing a medical course for a year then going out to practice for a year or 2 for experience then come back and do the rest of his training.
This is why WAAPA is getting a bad reputation and kids are looking to the eastern states
