24 Hour Show Adelaide
Wed, 18 Jan 2006, 07:35 amAdelaide ppl if you didnt see the 24 Hour Show on Sat night you missed out big time.
24 Hour Show at Her Majesty'e Theatre Adelaide raising money for kids with cancer was a Great Show and extremely funny.
It was amazing. Auditions were on Friday night with 130 ppl. They audition everyone selecting cast within 15 min. Rehearsal began immediately. Rehearsal from 8pm to 12am Friday night then back at 8am Sat until end of show.
Guys and Dolls was the musical and no one knew what musical they were doing until all the cast were selected. They performed the whole show. 2 1/2hrs of dialogue, song and dance learnt in 24 hours. The sets were made in 24hrs. The orchestra was selected and the full score mastered in 24 hrs. Lighting and tech in 24 hours.
Yes lines were forgotten but adlibed. Some songs were forgotten but covered up with comedy. Just a brilliant cast. Never laughed so much in all my life.
Guys and Dolls is not a favourite of mine but I would pay to see this again.
Together with the Triple MMM morning crew and Aussie Olympian basketballer Rachel Sporn. Funny Funny Funny
Well done to my friend Sarah who was just the best Hot Box Dancer, what a standout.

NOT rehearsed in 24 hours...
Fri, 3 Feb 2006, 04:33 pmActually, Im going to be brutally honest...
First up - At least 4 of the actors playing their main roles had played their roles before... The question "Who has been in the show before" was part of the audition process... So really... for the mains at least, it wasn't rehearsed in 24hours at all, because they've previously been rehearsing months for other productions of Guys and Dolls...
No surprises there... Perfectly good actors were turned away because they hadn't played the roles they were auditioning for before...
Also - Ridiculously - ONE girl was turned away from the audition for female chorus because they only needed 9 girls... and she was the 10th... Why not take 10? It's a charity event for christs sake... AND they let the public watch the auditions, much to the poor girls humiliation when she was turned away and made to walk down the aisle herself...
Cera - If you were the tall blonde girl with the wide shoulders - I'll tell you why everyone was watching you - You were totally upstaging every single other person on-stage, including the mains, and including the celebs... It was totally embarassing for people in the audience to watch... People were actually laughing... It was like watching a barbie-doll on speed... So maybe just get down off your high horse and have a little dignity. You were in the chorus... But I had friends that were expecting you to break into a solo because of the way you were setting yourself up...
Honestly - They show was fun - Yes, it was entertainment...
But people need to stop gushing, because it wasn't everything it was cracked up to be...
