G'day 'Comedy Tonight'. Thanks for that! You've restored my faith in Uni students...at last someone who can spell, argue, give as good as they get, put me in my place, and knows what 'irony' and even 'metonyms' are!
Why the need for incessant ravings?
It's fun.
It keeps me entertained.
Why not?
I could very well ask the same (and frequently do) of much else that goes on around here, like the conversations that prompted the start of this thread. I thought Janty hit the nail on its noggin when he/she said,

Having too much time on my hands? I guess I do. After rehearsing full-time during the week and learning lines after hours for the Barking Gecko show I'm in for PIAF; working weekends as an entertainer at the zoo; Saturday nights musician at the Big Hoo-Haa; I've almost finished sanding and polishing the floorboards in my new house; writing a song to use at the Finley Awards I'm hosting this weekend; and I caught up socially with several mates on both Friday and Saturday night...sometimes I just need to take some time off for mindless entertainment, and surprisingly enough I often find some here. Probably helps that I don't have a TV at present, although I've watched a couple of DVDs this week on my computer.
What are you getting done with your free time?
As far as my word choice; well picked up, but I don't think you got the right context. My use of 'conservative' was not to do with the figure I was quoting, but in how 'safe' and 'cautious' I was being in presenting my argument. If I'd have estimated an extremely low number, there would have been a good case for someone to say I was fudging figures to prove my point. So I played it safe, and guessed a larger number than I believe is actually true. As the cautious over-estimate still proved my point conclusively, any lower actual figure would even strengthen my analogy.
'Liberal', though, would probably have been a better, less ambiguous word choice. Thanks.
Cheers,
Craig
