Is it normal to be charged a bond in amateur musicals?

Can someone help me? I've been told that if I succesfully audition for a part in an amateur production that I will have to pay $200 bond. Is this normal or should I be suspicious?

Hi Jeff, no offence taken. I know just as much as the next person who sat next to me at the orientation meeting. Tulipa, I'm not sure why you're directing it at me. Again, I'm not part of their committee. You can advise people as much as you want, it does nothing to me. I actually mentioned this to another person, and they advised to contact MEAA.
