I am hoping you (the reader) can give me some /any advise. I am hoping to find work as a rehearsal pianist and/or musician in an orchestra in any musical. Where should I go? What are my chances? Are rehearsal pianists in great demand or are there too many of us and not enough work? I havent had any experience, but I have been classically trained for 15 years and have done years of accompanying. Also when they say they are an ameateur musical company, does that mean no one (actors/ musicians) gets paid? Should I do payless musical work, just for the experience before I go to England? please help!

thanks so much

thank you for your help. I actually live on the central coast (which is one hour away from sydney, NSW) where theatre is almost 'extinct' (only small no. of amateur companies). There is an amateur theatre company which i was hoping to approach, but i wanted to prepare myself before i speak with them. I didnt what them to take advantage of my inexperience of the 'business/money' side of things. I have a weird but strong feeling that they wont pay...i dont know why. oh well, i wont know for sure until i find out. thanks again for you advise. any more would be greatly appreciated. :)
