I need help/advise!
Fri, 10 Nov 2006, 12:44 pmI am hoping you (the reader) can give me some /any advise.
I am hoping to find work as a rehearsal pianist and/or musician in an orchestra in any musical. Where should I go? What are my chances? Are rehearsal pianists in great demand or are there too many of us and not enough work? I havent had any experience, but I have been classically trained for 15 years and have done years of accompanying.
Also when they say they are an ameateur musical company, does that mean no one (actors/ musicians) gets paid?
Should I do payless musical work, just for the experience before I go to England?
please help!
In my experience many
Fri, 10 Nov 2006, 01:38 pmIn my experience many amateur companies will pay rehearsal pianists and pit musicians although they probably don't pay full professional rates. (some will) If Adelaide is anything to go by there are not enough good rehearsal pianists to go around. Get word out there. Find some MD's who work in the amateur world. If you are a member of the Musicians Union have a word with them about opportunities where you are.
Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing.
