I am hoping you (the reader) can give me some /any advise. I am hoping to find work as a rehearsal pianist and/or musician in an orchestra in any musical. Where should I go? What are my chances? Are rehearsal pianists in great demand or are there too many of us and not enough work? I havent had any experience, but I have been classically trained for 15 years and have done years of accompanying. Also when they say they are an ameateur musical company, does that mean no one (actors/ musicians) gets paid? Should I do payless musical work, just for the experience before I go to England? please help!

location?

Where are you? In perth, my understanding is that there are always people looking for rehearsal pianists. I'm not sure where to look though? maybe check the upcoming shows/auditions lists and contact the company putting it on. Alternatively, simply find all the companies in your area/city and contact them all with your details so they can contact you when needed. My understanding is that most companies would (and should) pay a rehearsal accompanist, even if not standard rates. Nev It's the simple things stupid...
