I was unaware of most of the scandal surrounding the understudy/Les Mis affair. I do hope that it doesn't tarnish this shows reputation or dissuade the public from going to see it. It's nice to have shows of this nature in Perth, whether pro or am - good to have a night out in Subi with the family and enjoy the individual performances given.
No one can deny that Les Mis has wonderful music - years of popularity have shown this - so let's all just watch it without preconceived notions ey? Then any construction criticism afterwards can be well-directed and reasonable!
Sorry to have a bit of a rant but I think it's so sad that this site turns into a slagging match just for the sake of it!
Regarding Simon's comments - I don't think they were offensive - this time. He is developing rather a reputation for being an explosive 'poster' and putting forward his negative opinions (rather harshly) on some shows before the curtains even rise on opening night! Ruefully, I have to say that many of his comments are probably well directed and I have personally experienced his expertise on stage. He's a very talented guy - however it does smart a bit when he uses his theatrical know-how to bring down the efforts of others.
Thou dankish clapper-clawed moldwarp!
