Believe me, nobody knows that more than I do. But I am so sick of everyone pulling it to pieces. It's over, and what has been done with the King and I has been done, regardless if you agreed with what happened or not. I don't think the understudies should have been sacked, especially since it was such a hasty decision, but the performance was bad. I'm not blaming anybody, but it was bad, and what needs to be taken into account was the fact that the MS Society had never produced a show before and did have to answer to their sponsors. I'm not sticking up for what they did, all I'm saying is that you have to listen to both sides before your opinion is truly valid.
The sad thing is that nobody has acknowledged the money raised, only the drama that went on backstage. And the gossip behind the set was so much harder to deal with than the show itself.
Corey, you really need to decide for yourself whether you try out or not. I learnt a lot last year from my cast members and until all this stuff started, it was a good experience. But unfortunately it seems inevitable in theatre that people will voice their opinions about something if they think that they will be heard, and this can lead to a lot of upset. I'm sure the production will be great, certainly better than the version several years ago which everybody seems now to love.
And Simon, absolutely nothing gives you the right to speak to me like that, regardless of whether it is in person or on the net.
