24 hour show
Sun, 9 Jan 2005, 10:09 amHi Everyone. The theatre company I am involved with is planning to do a 24 hour show in a few weeks time. The concept being that anyone who wants to be involved, either on stage or backstage, turns up at the theatre on the Friday night where the rules etc are explained and then the title of the full length musical that we will be perforning the following night to a paying audience is announced...that gives us 24 hours to audition, rehearse, do sets, costumes, lighting, sound, learn the songs, rehearse the orchestra, do the program....everything in the space of a day.....wer'e doing it as a fundraiser! there must be easier ways of raising money than this but it will be fun! I'll let you know how it goes.

Sat, 15 Jan 2005, 09:11 amHi Brooke and Clint. Clint you are right it is Northern Light. Ther3e has been a fair amount of speculation amongst the membership as to what the show will be, anything from Grease to Oklahoma and everything in between. The person organising the event is one of my closest friends and she is remaining very tight-lipped about the whole thing!----not that I want her to tell me as that wrecks the whole point of the exercise! I'm doing the sets for it so it will be a very hectic 24 hours for me and indeed all of us! If you want to be involved either backstage or onstage, turn up at the Shedley Theatre in Elizabeth (Adelaide SA) at 7pm on Fri Feb 4th (Gold coin entry...it a fundraiser after all!) at 8pm on Fri night the show will be announced by Rod Lewis and at 8pm on Sat the 5th the curtain goes up! Tickets are $12 if you book before the title of the show is announced and $16 after it's been announced. From having spoken to Ceri, who's organising it, I think the crew are in the theatre throughout the night, starting at midnight or so, and the cast come in at 8am Sat morning to start rehearsals.....it will be a panic as you can imagine, but will be a test of our ingenuity! Thankyou for your kind comments on our recieving those awards. We have had a very successfull year, but gee it was a lot of hard work..as I'm sure you know!
