Moderating Posts Down
Wed, 10 Sept 2008, 04:17 pmOkay, I'm a little confused - someone (or several someones) appears to moderating posts down at an alarming rate. I writing of course inr egards to the All Shook Up threads in the reviews forum. It seems now that posts are being moderated down even if they say nice things about the show... Are some people having a moderation war or something?
I can't agree with this kind of blatant and unwarranted censorship! If a post is racist, uses abusive language or any of those things that would warrant moderation I completely understand, but the moderation that is going on is nothing short of juvenile. I'm not sure whether Logos is right in regards to shows that have large numbers of young people involved being a breeding ground for this sort of behaviour, but I think he could make a strong case.
At this stage, I think that everyone needs to have their moderation rights revoked! I for one would be happy to give up the privelage of moderation if it means that this silly consorship will stop. Just because you don't agree with the content of a post does not give you the right to make it disappear. At least, that's what I think. I would love to hear other people's thoughts on this - please, let's start one of the good old fashioned discussions about this - if it turns out I'm in the minority, I'll shut up - I promise!

Thu, 11 Sept 2008, 03:39 pmMost likely because not enough people are actually moderating and moderating posts up.
Many posts can sit there for ages without being moderated at all, as in those on the Stirlling Gropu page. There is a mind-set (I suffered once) that if you can see it, you don't need to moderate, unless it is to moderate it down. The truth is, if you want posts to stay up, you moderate ALL POSTS. There is obviously far too few people moderating up. Hopefully this ongoing and quite lively series of discussions will bring this fact to light and more people will start to make an effort to moderate positively.
