In this case

No, I think in this particular case that a genuine concern has been raised. When I was applying for Son of a Gun and was presented with a Gmail email address, I too considered what the implications of a generic email address might mean. Mind you, I didn't consider Pishing due to the reasons I mentioned above, but I did wonder about the validity of the call for extras.

However, I did email the contact point to enquire. When the reply came back, I was able to determine that it was legit. This was because it came from someone I new whom is a casting consultant.

The point is, the concern over a generic email address is probably not the big dodgy signpost it once was. Many people use Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo etc as their official and legitimate email address. It is also a very popular choice for event specific communications, as per my example.

Concerns about Phishing are also valid I feel, although this is more a lack of understanding which is in itself understandable.

In any event, I felt that clearing this matter up would benefit not only the previous posters. It would also be useful to others. You could say that in this occasion, I was not feeding a Troll but servicing for everyone.

Finally, I know you were only jesting (or is that jousting) but again, I felt it was a good point to make, and it also gave me a chance to use other big words.

Absit invidia (and DFT :nono:)
