Gordon the Optom5 posts in thread

At the weekend I was talking to an elderly, but reasonably fit lady who was a regular attender at the Melville Theatre. She no longer drives so has to stand at a bus stop to go and come back from the theatre only one kilometre away. At nights, especially after the show, she is too frightened to do this. She still very keen to see shows but has had to give up the theatre trips.

Not just for this theatre, but has anyone any suggestions, or is there a theatre group who has a few 'friends of the theatre' who can pick these non-disabled fans to let them see a show?

beautiful idea, Gordon!

perhaps it could even be looked at in the manner of "companion passes" for people who bring patrons with disabilities to the theatre, or maybe give them both the seniors' rate. Or just let them do it because they are nice, compassionate people who want to share their love of theatre.
