To anyone to knows Perth theatre
Sat, 1 Dec 2007, 04:58 pmHi guys
I'm a newbie here, but I've been on this site a couple of times to have a look around. See, I'm aspiring to be a professional TV and Film actress, however due to many different reasons I have had no experience acting except for primary school drama and out of school dance.
I was wondering if there was anyone who could recommend decent beginner acting classes around Perth? I've Googled it and the only one that has looked good so far is the Black Swan Thrills and Skills classes.
It would be great if anyone knows any more, as I am attempting to build up my skills so I can audition for plays and eventually build a resume fit for WAAPA.
Regards,
Danika
Depends!
Sun, 2 Dec 2007, 12:28 amAre you looking for a full-time course or casual classes? The Entertainment Factory may be a good option if you're after full-time study, otherwise there are a lot of options available as far as acting classes go.
PAC (Perth Actors Collective) offer a range of well-respected night acting classes (http://www.screenworkshop.com.au/index.asp), including the Screen Workshop which is regarded as (one of?) the best in Perth.
WAAPA offer lots of workshops in June-July as well, including audition masterclasses that may improve your chances of getting in while building your skills and looking nice on your resume!
You mentioned that you've done some dance - if you're keen to do some music theatre it'd be well worthwhile to keep up the dance classes. You may also want to consider joining a choir (see http://perthchoralnet.cloader.net/ for one close to you) and/or getting a singing teacher.
And while you're building up your skills, some actual theatre experience is going to be very valuable. Keep an eye on the auditions listing on this site and have a go at auditioning for some community theatre productions.
