piano music for the wiz??

Having just read a few reviews for the wiz I was wondering if anyone has any "real" music for the show.

I'm doing a school production and my pianists in year 10 are very talented with reading but just can't get their heads around the sparse writing and over use of chord symbols and the expectation that they "comp" the majority of the pieces.

It would be a real help if someone has already transcribed some or all of them and would be willing to share.

Re: piano music for the wiz??

Hi Linda, We're doing "Wiz" right now in Albury and, you're right, the piano scores are not an easy read. Especially with all the instrumental parts cued in other staves! Sadly, the easier thing is to learn the chord symbols than try to write the whole piano part out! Also watch out, there are several spots with wrong chords written - when you put it together with the band they clash! In our score, as well, there is one page put in back-to-front in "Everbody Rejoice" - that took a bit of working out.
Good luck with it all.
