Can i ask why there is so much fuss over getting into WAAPA.....?
Is it really the be all and end all of our insudtry?

You should be right you dont have to be the best dancer to get in There are a number of levels the students are in for dance classes eg beginners, int and advanced. You need the voice first then an acting ability basically if you can sell yourself in those two areas you should be ok
