Hey guys :) I'm 15 years old and really want to do musical theatre and am dying to go to WAAPA. My friend Patrice Topiki went and auditioned there wen she was 17 and she's now 20 having graduted from WAAPA and is in the musical We Will Rock You doing understudies for leads. But she was apparantly really lucky to be accepted at that age and she's good at singing acting and dancing. Wheras i think i can only get in on my singing...acting i'm not overly confident with and dancing i'm going to take heaps of lessons. How good do you have to be to get in & what age is good to start? I'm thinking of going to the conservatorium of music in QLD first coz u also have better chance of getting in i've heard. Can anyone tell me about the audition process and wat the course is like? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys, Bec xo

Hey there,

As an alternative - I was just in Sydney and saw a show-case of a new course called "Coda" run by a school called Sing Over king. I went to all the showcases of the major schools - waapa, nida, and these guys were amazing. Apparently the course is only a year long and they only take ten people but maybe this would be good preparation - spend a year getting your singing and acting skill up to scratch. I can't tell you how slick the showcase was and i believe most graduates were placed with agents. Apparently one girl has an audition with Belvoir Street which is a major achievement for a new course. Look into it. Not sure if they have a web-site or not.

All the best
