It was with some sadness that I found out this morning about the passing of Fred Ebb from a Heart Attack at the age of 72.

Ebb was the lyricist half of the great team Kander & Ebb, responsible for some of the most popular musicals of the last forty years.

His Broadway credits include:
Cabaret
Chicago
The Act
Woman of the Year
The Rink
Kiss of the Spider Woman
Steel Pier

Apparently his two most recent works: "Over and Over" and "The Visit" have been seen in the US but not yet on Broadway, and he was in the process of completing a new work, ironically titled "Curtains"

In his career he won four Tony Awards (from twelve nominations) and Four Emmys.

On a personal note:
My favourite Ebb musical would still have to be Cabaret, but my favourite Ebb song would have to be the Cell Block Tango from Chicago

Thanks for letting us know Paul. That is so sad. He was such a fabulously talented writer. Broadway's loss is surely the afterlife's gain...
