Help! new website
Thu, 23 Feb 2006, 10:06 pmI suspect no-one is going to believe me after nearly a two year wait, but it's literally only a couple of weeks away from launching.
:-)
And I really need YOUR help to finish it!
Aside from fixing dozens of bugs that have plagued the old site for years, there is a LOT of new functionality in the new site. Inevitably this means lots of testing to be done.
So, could you please, please, please! visit the site and try the following:
*logging in, if you have an existing login and password
*registering, if you don't have an existing login and password
*edit your account and create a detailed profile
*adding and/or editing an event
*adding and/or editing a company
*post a new topic
*post a comment
*moderate a topic or comment
.... anything else you think you'd like to try!
If you're looking for ideas, check the Frequently Asked Questions about the website and look for what the various roles are capable of doing.
It may be frustrating initially, particularly if you're familiar with this site.
However, I'm not giving detailed instructions here, just tasks, as I want you to let me know whether you were able to work it out or whether I've got it completely wrong and it's just too, too hard!
Oh, the temporary address while we're testing this:
http://home.it.net.au/~gmalcolm/
Feedback please!!
Cheers
Grant
PS. Yes, I know there's no insult button yet, thou tottering boil-brained malt-worm!

you don't say?

just speak to my beloved about the time I've been spending on this over the last couple of years.

Good. Keep looking otherwise they're bound to turn up as soon as I switch us over.
While you're there and logged in, try updating your profile adding Biographical Details, Experience and Skills info.
You might also want to look at adding your location to the user map on the Bio Details screen.
I don't suggest that anyone makes any substantial changes or adds any important information anywhere else on the site, as I will wipe most of the content and do a fresh import when we're ready to go live.
I can only guarantee that information in personal profiles will be retained.
