Dodgy agent?
Mon, 23 Mar 2009, 05:22 pmI have been contacted by an agency called Australian Talent Management. Does anyone know of it? Is it a reputable company?
I'm just starting as an extra and don't really know how things are done. They are offering to do a photo shoot to put together a portfolio for me and charging me $199 for the shoot (my own make-up and clothes) plus $20 for a CD of all my photos. They want the $199 now, or paid on the day. Is this normal? I'd rather pay it after i've seen the photos, or better, taken out of my pay. How is this sort of thing usually done? I'd really appreciate some advice!
Dont Pay an agent upfront
Thu, 26 Mar 2009, 10:32 pmI agree with Puppets in Melbourne. Slander is an issue but dont pay an agent up front. Albeit un the guise of a photo shoot.
You do need photos but you dont need their photos.
Get a price from a local photographer for a head shot with the disc so you can do what you want with the pics.
All photographers charge differently and some dont like to give the disc but charge per print.
The best thing is go through the phone book and you will get exactly what you need for less than $100 which you can take to any agency.
I have seen many of these types of companies come and go over the years both here and more so in the UK.
I hope this helps you.
