I was wondering whether anyone is auditioning for the Amigo Films in australia. I tried looking for their website but all i can find is amigofilms.com - which is the amercan one - and nothing bout the australian one. Im a little curious coz their email is auditions@amigofilms.com.au and i cant seem to find much about it. Basically i just want to be assured that this audition is safe and not a scam.

This was all I could find

This was all I could find on the audition: http://www.digitalfilmcrew.com/2007/12/10/cast-and-crew-wanted/ A quick look-up on their domain name registry came across the information about who bought it: MCBRIDE, BRAD EDWIN JASON Eligibility Type: Sole Trader Eligibility ID: ABN 72910690665 (.com.au domain names must have ABN registration to obtain, so that is most likely either the person who is designing the site, or the person running the audition) Based on what little info was provided in the above link, I would say some further research into the company and production is necessary; as well as perhaps a couple of calls to the organisers. On a slightly different tack: the above link was all that I could find on the net of the audition notice. If this was a legit audition, you would expect to find it on a number of other sites; especially the ones with paid subscription, like Screen Hub, etc. I have never seen the digitalfilmcrew site before, but experience suggests that it's not a good site to look for work. It seems very much set up as an advertiser (ie. picking up money via google ads etc.), rather than something that will provide good quality information on the industry. If you would like some help finding some more reputable places to look for auditions, please let me know. I have literally thousands of arts jobs links sitting on my website, for anyone to use, all of which I used to hunt for arts jobs for several years. They are regularly updated and very reputable. I'm guessing you're looking in all the wrong places for auditions; which is fine if you're new and don't know where to look, but it can lead to a lot of wasted time and effort. (Not trying to be offensive, but many sites have appeared over the past couple of years, which are merely designed to fill a niche corner because they saw money it - not because they know what they're doing or provide useful info. There are actually very few sites for Aussies that offer decent industry information and even fewer that have reliable and up-to-date jobs. Not saying digitalfilmcrew is or isn't dodgy, just that the fact that digitalfilmcrew seems laden with google ads, a web design that looks 'out-of-the-box', and no about page, suggests that they're not going to have the best information out there. Additional to that is the fact that their site appears extremely new - and yet their domain name has been registered in 2004, and is owned til 09. So why do their archives only go to Sept 07?) If you want some decent links of where to look for auditions - especially in your area, let me know. (I'm guessing you're in Sydney?) I have about 45 sorted NSW links - tech and acting based - plus some generic ones for around the country, and thousands of ones unsorted. Additionally, you don't say on your profile what experience you've got and how old you are - I'm again, guessing under 18. If so, I'd suggest getting into a local amateur group and doing some more classes, before going head-over-heels into paid auditions. It appears from your posts and reactions, you need a bit more experience and research before you should try and gain professional work; and perhaps look into both getting an agent, and becoming a member of MEAA. There's plenty of people on this site who'd be happy to offer some advice, and perhaps some other links/contacts for your area.
