I wanted to pay tribute to a man who has contributed positively to my theatre life and life in general. His name is PETER PROBERT who was one of the founders back in the 70's and a life member of Whitehorse Musical Theatre in Melbourne. A man with great expertise and passion for Lighting and the stage he had dedicated his work over the years with Northside Cabaret Theatre Organistaion "Guys N Dolls Revue". I have had the pleasure and experience working as his side kick on the Lighting crew for Guys N Dolls. As a previous Theatre graduate and now a Mum of two, spending my time with Peter on Guys N Dolls was soo rewarding. He really taught me to push myself beyond my comfort zone. From knowing nothing except the basics they teach you at University to JAND Knowledge(Yes Lighting Brand terms)! There is nothing like on the job experience to really learn a craft. You could do all the reading in the world but nothing compares to good old fashion practical experience. Peter showed me just that with lighting, how to rig lights, read a lighting board and how to place fixtures in the lenses etc I could go on but I really owe it to Peter who was a great friend and Leader. He departed our earth yesterday. Im soo fortunate that about 3 weeks ago I popped into see how Guys N Dolls were going and gave him a great huge hug. Im so glad I did. One minute we are here and the next the people in your life unexpectedly leave us. So if anything from this blog, Live Your Life passionately as Peter did for Theatre and don't leave anything for later. Do it Today because you never know what tommorrow brings. Much Love and Blessings To All You Beautiful Theatre Beings and Creators, onstage and off ! Lisa x We Miss You Peter.
