yellow glass theatre inc, in association with The BRAINBOX Project, will present the AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE of the new American musical I SING! by Eli Bolin, Sam Forman and Benjamin Salka.

Fresh from outstanding successes in the USA (including Off-Broadway), I SING! will have its first production outside the USA DownStairs at the Maj from 28 March – 8 April, led by director Chris Kabay, with music direction by local composer, Simon Holt.

I SING! features a line-up of five of Perth’s most talented musical theatre stars including WAAPA Musical Theatre graduates Gillian Binks (who recently played ‘Joanne’ in yellow glass theatre’s RENT) and Sharon Wisniewski, with Matthew Kiely, Simon Holt and Chris Kabay.

The musical (sometimes described as "SEX AND THE CITY meets FRIENDS set to music") follows a character-based plot revolving around five twenty-somethings, just out of college, struggling (and often failing) to make wise choices in their relationships and having to deal with love, sex, life and loss in a big city. Together, these five strong and relatable characters create a realistic, sexy and charming story about what life is really like in your twenties. Unfolding their stories through song… “They sing for the grown-ups they can't help becoming, they sing for the children they are.”

With a fun, pop style that has the sharp ring of reality, with a bit of Sondeim snap and bitterness to the songs, I SING! was reviewed by Peter Filichia ( www.theatermania.com ) as “One of the 50 best off-Broadway scores ever written.”
