Hi all

I have an audition coming up for West Side Story. I would like to audition for the chorus - one of the Shark girls preferably.

Can anyone suggest a good audition piece. We need to prepare a piece in a similar uptempo style that the girls sing- mezzo / mezzo-soprano range.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks

Hmmmm, West Side Story is such a great musical. I'm guessing you can't sing any of the songs from the actual play for the audition....and even if u could, i wouldn't coz usually everyone goes for the songs from the play.

Well there's a few good songs from "Bye Bye Birdie." One of the songs is called "An English Teacher." I'm rehearsing for this play right now. Or you could go for "A Chorus Line." A good song from that is called "Tits and Ass." A bit avonguard innit.

But these are quite well known musicals, so it would be worth while choosing one that isn't as well known. But then again, it doesn't matter, as long as it shows off your range.

Both songs i've mentioned are light, up tempo songs. Both fantastic as well.

I hope i've helped.
