i dont know if i can

I really wanna work in musicals but i dont think i can do it because im 16 and have no dancing experience. do you think there any way that i could. i can act and sing. its all i wanna do and it kills me that i didnt learn to dance young. pease tell me what you think.

Just because you didn't learn to dance when you were young doesn't mean you can't start now!! Even tho there is more pressure these days to be a 'triple threat' not all musicals are danced based and don't require 'dancers' but saying that - you can do anything you want to, you just have to have some confidence and belief in yourself - if you really want to do musical theatre then you will - it's NEVER too late!! So get out there, start taking classes, hone your skills, work out what you're best at and GO FOR IT!!! And don't let anyone tell you that you can't!!!

i started dancing when i was 18, and i've been in musicals. i actually aced all my jazz awards and tap exams.

i think ballet is something that u should start young at, but im now 21 and i can compete with ppl who have been dancin al there life. if u want it bad enough, then you'll make it happen.

Very much so! Advice if u are starting dance training! Start Ballet now!!!! if u can do 2 classes a week, it is much better for u, to do a jazz and a ballet rather then 2 jazz!!! Ballet will help in everything u do in jazz!!

I also only started dancing when i was 18. I'm not the best dancer but i can get by. I say that Jazz is the most important class to do but also Ballet, and if you can squeeze in tap too, well that would be awesome. i know its hard if you are still at school to make time for all this stuff but if working in MT is what you really want to do, its time to put your best foot forward and start training now. The reason i didn't start dance training till late was because of where i grew up. There was no dance classes offered accept one for little kids. It makes it really hard if you come from somewhere like that. I moved to the city are started training there and then i got into waapa and my dancing has gotten heaps better. You are only 16! Go for it! You have got so much time in front of you so take advantage of it now! Don't let your singing training slip though, its just as important! Pressure, i know! I believe you can do it!

If i can learn to dance at 22 you can learn to dance at 16 :) Prior to the last show i had done little to none. i can now Tap and do lifts that i never had the strength to do before. I put in the hours though, The choreographer and i were there till midnight most rehearsals doing the dance and seeing what we were capable of. we pushed each other so much but the end result was a fantastic dance number. Don't give up on yourself.

Mate, there's always room for singer/actors in musicals - just because you can't dance doesn't necessarily mean you can't move. And many a lead role is for the singer/actor! Go for it! If you love it, go for it!
