I heard that Rent was going to be performed somwhere in Chatswood on the 20th , 21st and 22nd. I can't find anything on it. Can anyone help me out?
Where else will Rent be performed in Sydney this coming year?
Thanks! :)

Re: RENT in sydney?
Clearly you don't look too hard. BroadwayAustralia.com - which essentially has the answers to pretty much every question like this asked on here, reports:
From west to north ... Utopian Productions' Rent makes big move
Tuesday, January 3, 3:10pm
Utopian Productions' production of Rent that premiered in Penrith last year will enjoy a Sydney season this month with an engagement at the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood.
Jonathan Larson's rock musical is the joyous, inspiring & contemporary story of a group of New York City East Village artists struggling to find their voices and find love in today's tough times. Based (like Moulin Rouge) on PucciniÂ’s classic 1896 opera La Boheme, Rent boasts a hot young cast singing some of the most powerful songs Broadway has seen in many years, touching on controversial themes with compassion, and thrilling audiences of all ages with its moving tale of hopes and dreams. It follows the lives of a group of friends dealing with friendships, love, life and hope in an ever-changing, turbulent society.
In his review of the Penrith season of Rent, BroadwayAustralia.com's Troy Dodds said, in part: "Taking on a show of Rent's magnitude is a mammoth task but Utopian Productions Aus produce a credible production. Many of the problems that plagued opening night - issues with the band being too loud, the lights not working correctly and the sound being just plain awful at times - will fix themselves as the season progresses. And while it's important to note that these problems were most likely one-offs, it must be said that the audio and sound issues took so much away from what could have been a spectacular production. The problems must be fine tuned because they have the potential to turn the show from a semi-professional production to an amateur one. The production gets off to a very shaky start but shows its first signs of greatness when Natalie Carboni takes to the stage as S&M dancer Mimi. Carboni's duet with Richard Coleman (Roger) is the first highlight of the show and her vocal ability leaves you in wait for "Out Tonight" later in the first act, which she performs solidly. Carboni is the show's best performer, and while she seems hit and miss at times vocally, her stage presence is superb and her rendition of "Without You" in the second act is truly beautiful."
Rent plays at the Zenith Theatre from Friday, January 20. Bookings: 1300 136 166.

Re: RENT in sydney?
G'day,
I was in both of these productions of RENT (Penrith and Chatswood). The shortcomings with Sound and lighting were disappointing in the first run at the Joan Sutherland centre.
The Chatswood production was an out of sight improvement. Staff for Sound and lighting have my congratulations. Neil and Phil (lighting), you guys are amazing! Great work with the small snippet of time you guys were given. The guys on sound were utmost proffessional, swung and hit home runs with every last minute curve ball we threw at them.
Cheers to everyone who supported throughout both runs of RENT. Hope to see you again at the next show whichever it may be.
Peace!
Derek
