For Jacks classes students are asked to please bring a goon bag and some spring roll from Kunt's Kitchen. Other guest directors and teachers will include: Shatie Shallison, Kathleane Sigory, Excuse My Mathers, Dizzy "trash bag" Stiles, Massive Mac, Angry Anderson and who ever Mark – AKA Shat - happens to be sleeping with at the time.

Re: SERENITY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS

Hi!!

This sounds like an amazing oportunity!! At first I thought that the $100 audition fee was a bit steep but when I saw who the teachers will be I can now understand why. Okay just a quick Q, Can the guys sing part of your world? I just thought that I could bring a new meaning to such a beautiful song.

Also how much is the course and should I send my cv with my headshot?
Otherwise how will you contact us???

Thanks again!!

Re: SERENITY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS

In aswer to you question....No men may not sing any of the womens audition material. Please stick to you own sex. While SAPA is a broad minded performing arts school we most certainly do not encourage gender swaping of any kind.

Please DO send your CV with your head shot and audition fee, and further details of how much the course is and other important infomation will be explained to you at your audition.

Best of luck

Re: SERENITY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS

Um..... hi guys!!! wow i'm in a little bit of a pickle now! I just wanted to ask you serenity, if you really believe your course is better then WAAPA, cos i like, got into the MT course at WAAPA and ill be coming over there on the 26th of Jan, and I just wanna ask all you cute little muffins out there what course youse think i should do.... gee it's sooo hard to judge what is best for your career and all.... i mean, i'd never heard of SAPA but i guess cos you hafta pay $100 for an audition it must be good! I asked my mum and she says that SAPA is like, equally as good as NIDA and WAAPA, she said that it doesn't get any coverage in like, the media cos it only takes in a few ppl every year.... So yah, I'm like, really wanting to know what's best for me, cos youse guys know i wanna be like holly valance one day....god she is like my idol... this one time, i was working as a promo model at a function in the city and she was like there eating and i was with my friend Dulcie and she totally dared me to walk up to her and ask her for her autograph, and i was like "yah watever!" but she was like "yah totally do it" and i was like "ok i will biatch" and i went up to her and she totally gave it to me....I talked ot her for like three minutes! she goes, she goes, she goes, "you are a cutie, i'm so glad you liked the 1800- REVERSE ads!" I was like, the coolest girl at skool for like a month! So yah i wanna be famous and all, and i heard you get famous from WAAPA but if i can get more famous at SAPA, i think that's the place for Sally D!!

I love you guys sooo much!!!

Love Sally D

Re: SERENITY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS

Is SAPA accepting enrolments from WAAPA courses other than MT?
Walter PlingeThu, 12 Jan 2006, 10:13 pm

Re: SERENITY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS

Yes...Yes it is....Unless you do the "Arts Management" course....then unfortunately you will miss out....unless of course you are really nice, which I'm sure you are!

Re: SERENITY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS

Hi Cracker,
Over the last two months I have been undercover researching the students of the arts and stage management scenes and I feel that this years intake will have to be opened up to these suprisingly talented and beautiful people. I do believe I have found many a gem....however the SAPA seal of approval and initiation test must be passed before any entry is granted, of course.
May you enjoy the remainder of your holiday and I look forward to the staff meeting on the 21st of this here month!

Re: SERENITY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS

Can we have a website address or something to confirm this is a real school? All sounds just a tad dodgy.. Dont go sending money unless you have proof everyone

Re: SERENITY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS

OMG PEOPLE!!!!

Of course this is a fake!! Hello!! You would have to be a bit of a moron to belive this. Serenity is a house where Mt Waapa students live during their time there. Yes I can understand that if you haven't heard of Serenity then you may be suckered into sending money to this place. But anyone wanting $100 audition fee esspecialy in Perth than it's a scam. I sure the person who wrote this doesn't mean to sucker people in, It's just an "in" joke.

Well what if someone had sent their details with a cheque enclosed. Will they return it. I did put my address on the back of the envelope. I hoping they would be honest enough to send it back. Please!

Hey Cracker

You guys only seem to have found this website over the past few months...give it another six months and you'll start to realise that there is no limit of gullible hopefuls out there who would not have read between the lines (or much further than your first few sentences), nor understood any of the humour in your first post.
This is partly why I've been hammering on about understanding the audience you're writing for here; and that 'in' jokes sometimes backfire because there is bound to be someone who'll take it literally.

I didn't understand the 'Serenity' reference, but I got the context of the rest of your post and found it all generally amusing. But I don't think it's too far-fetched a scenario that someone who doesn't realise that 'Shaylands' isn't a suburb may well have written to you for more information, even sending money. (In fact they were probably from Nebraska and were sending you 100 US dollars....should've posted a real address, hey?). We've had huge problems in the past with young teenage hopefuls (desperate to believe what they want to believe, rather than any obvious evidence) answering ads in posts that were 3 or 4 years out of date; answering ads for local actors when they live in a different country; responding to posts that specifically ask for actors about twenty years older than they are; and responding to posts that are specifically telling them not to respond...yet they still do. They inevitably respond to a single post midway through a thread, that they might have found through a Google search, and neglect to even open the previous posts which would have given them all the info they needed. You may think you made it clear enough in the second half of your post that it was all a giant piss-take; but some readers would not have bothered reading past 'If asked to audition please prepare:"....Yes, I know it sounds incredible but it happens!
And unfortunately, because there are SO MANY gullibles out there, there are just as many shonky operators seeking to take advantage of young hopefuls. Some of these guys are harmless enough, but some are outright scary, and some of their posts are not dissimilar to the one you posted in jest as a parody. Young kids have been known to give out personal details, photos, phone numbers...I don't know of any who've actually sent money but it's not a big leap to imagine it happens. And many 13-14 year olds (the age bracket that seems to answer these ads the most) don't have a clear concept of what $100 is worth, or that it's not appropriate to pay for an audition.

fele, count your blessings that you've got a brain, but you can't always assume that others do.

You said, 'Yes I can understand that if you haven't heard of Serenity then you may be suckered into sending money to this place."
Well, until you just explained it, I can guarantee that most readers here hadn't heard of it; it was too much of an 'in' joke. So you can understand why I think you're probably right...someone gullible WILL have been prepared to send money.
And saying, 'But anyone wanting $100 audition fee especially in Perth"...that reads as if you think that if it WASN'T in Perth it might be okay? Whereas we both know what you meant was - paying for auditions is not on, full stop.

Please don't think I'm having a go at you WAAPA students over these recent posts...I point all this out because I'm as incredulous as you are that anyone might have taken you seriously. But I know it happens - because I've been there/done that...stuff I thought was a clever joke has backfired when someone gullible's taken me WAY too literally.
I'm discussing your posts here because there's a chance they MIGHT read this, understand more, and see the joke of it all, or at least be wary in the future. But probably not.

But it does support what I said recently....if you're going to post here please think about who's likely to be reading your banter; and understand that if you're going to be obscure, you're likely to confuse people in ways you didn't anticipate.

Cheers,
Craig

Re: SERENITY @ Joke Too Far.com

Pinkerton - If you really did send money....i'm really really sorry that you didn't get it, and you can rest assured that as soon as i get back to Perth in just under a week that i will send your letter straight back to you....

For everyone else:

Please understand that SAPA is not a real academy of performing arts and we are not really having auditions on the 30th of Jan. Please don't send money or a head shot or anything at all...even if you did send something to "shaylands" we would not have received it as its not a real suburb. How ever if we do, we do we will do our best to send it all back to you. SAPA apologizes for crushing any young peoples hopes of going to drama school but i'm sure if you are so determined that you were going to pay a hundred dollars just for the chance to audition, you will get into an institution far better than SAPA could ever be. Craig is right - Don't ever pay for the chance to audition, its not fair practice when auditioning for a show/gig. (however you will find that you have to pay a small audition fee to audition for most drama schools, ie waapa).

After the next few days i'm sure you will realise that the presence of silly boring banter will gradually stop because we are all starting to head back to Perth to get stuck back into work mode. We have all been on holidays with nothing else to do than come on the net and annoy people (so it seems). So once we are all back at uni we won't be having time to come on here and muck around. i'm just enjoying it while i can cos in a few weeks i will be back in hell serving the rest of my jail term.

If i have ever offended anyone, it was never my intention, so i apologize. I hope you are all having a really great day.

Cracker
