Confused - WAAPA or Brent Street
Thu, 22 Dec 2005, 03:13 pmHey there Guys. Im a bit upset with this girl who just got into Brent Street. She went to the audition but got in anyways cos of the contacts she knew. She said anyone auditioning for WAAPA is mad cos its too far away and all the paid work is in Sydney, which she is close to. She has contacts who will get her jobs anywhere.
I didnt want to say anything but my sisters friend has just come back from Brent Street and she left because not even the professionals there were getting work let alone new grads. Well I think its a 1 year Diploma Course.
Hey is it better to go to Sydney to do that course and be near paid work or try out for WAAPA, what are the benefits. I have my heart set on WAAPA.

Thu, 22 Dec 2005, 09:58 pmbrent street is more for dance, Waapa music theatre is an all round course... it's up to you! In regards to being "near" paid work when your studying do yourself a favor, focus on that study! don't go running off to auditions trying to get away from where your learning! ( don't turn down an opertunity! ) but make a commitment to study for 1 year, 3 years, how ever but focus on it! u will be a better performer in the end! And i dont care who your friend is, if they dont have the talent, they wont get the work! doesn't matter who there friends are. (assuming they are professional) Noone who is has a professional rep is going to be someone in a show just because they are friends.
