NIDA - Musical Theatre Course

A highly impressive course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, one of Australia's top dramatic learning agencies will help you learn about all facets of singing, dancing and acting in this one year course. NIDAÂ’s part-time course, Singer Dancer Actor, is for aspiring music theatre professionals committed to performing in music theatre, and provides vocational training to get a leg in the door of the entertainment industry.
2006 auditions for Singer Dancer Actor are being held in Sydney, Melbourne and in Brisbane from 12 November.
Singer, Dancer, Actor is a year long course, taught by specialists from the music theatre profession, including Avigail Herman, singer and former Head of Music at NIDA, and Keith Bain, Head of Movement at NIDA for many years. Some of our recent graduates have appeared in professional productions both in Australia and internationally including Cats World Tour, Les Miserables, Shout!, Mamma Mia!, Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical, Godspell, Kiss me Kate, Moulin Rouge, The Lion King, The Producers, and Hair. Hayden Tee (graduated 1999), is now playing Marius in Les Miserables at the QueenÂ’s Theatre in LondonÂ’s West End.
Shaun Rennie who is currently performing as Fyedka in Fiddler on the Roof says of his training ...“if it wasn’t for the NIDA Singer Dancer Actor course I would not have had the amazing opportunities that have come my way over the last four or five years. The course has taught me the discipline and attention to detail necessary to make a performance unique and interesting. I recommend it to anyone wishing to have a career in Musical Theatre.”
Auditions for 2006 are in: Sydney 12-15 November
Melbourne 20 November
Brisbane on 27 November
The course covers acting and vocal techniques, dance and singing styles and scene work from the music theatre repertoire. Classes run in the evenings and on weekends over three terms (starting 30 January 2006) and culminate with a performance at NIDA in November.
NIDA Open program is also offering a Music Theatre Masterclass for the first time in both Melbourne on the 19th November and Brisbane on 26th November.
Final performances by the 2005 graduates are on 10 and 11 November 2005 at the NIDA Studio, NIDA, 215 Anzac Parade Kensington.
