Is there a source of CDs with backing music for specific musicals, so that a small company can put on a musical without a backing band or pianist? Sort-of kareoke for theatre. In particular, does anyone know of such a CD for Sondheim's A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum?

Hi,

Here's a site with heaps of backing tracks. Not sure if the one you want is there but see how you go.

Re: BACKING MUSIC ON CD

Hi,
I have recently had a backing track made for a show. I know someone in Perth who does this really well. Also, there may be some copies of "Forum" floating around, which were made by another small company like yours. Do a search on your show, and get in contact with the companies who have performed it.
To get a track made for your own uses will cost around $3,000.
Cheers
Chris

You wouldn't be able to use the 'commercially bought backing cds' without permisssion

not officially anyway
