Try Mack and Mabel. It's funny!

Re: strong women

Calamity Jane and Kiss Me Kate both have 'men hating' songs in them - although in both shows the women do succumb at the end. There is a song called Down with Love which comes from "Hooray for What?" but I don't know that musical at all - I have only heard that one song.

Re: strong women

My new musical "Class of 77" has a song entilted "Girls Talk" which says exactly this! The show's first act is set in 1977 at the the height of women's lib. Lyrics in part are:

YOU AND I
WE'RE WOMEN
OF THE FUTURE
THE GUYS DON'T KNOW
THE HALF OF WHAT WE KNOW
THEY WALK AROUND
AS IF THEY OWN THE WORLD
'COS DADDY TOLD THEM SO

(GIRLS TALK) JENNY: GONNA SHOW 'EM WHAT THE GIRLS CAN DO!
(GIRLS TALK) LINDA: WE'RE THE FUTURE AND YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE
(GIRLS TALK) BOTH: MOVE ASIDE IT'S OUR TIME IN THE SUN

(GIRLS TALK) JENNY: ALL YOU GUYS HAD BETTER WATCH YOUR STEP!
(GIRLS TALK) LINDA: 'COS YOU KNOW YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET
(GIRLS TALK) BOTH: BETTER TURN YOUR TAIL AND RUN

Re: strong women

Wicked! has two leading women, great characters. But don't bother reading the book.

Re: strong women

Really? I loved the book! But I can see how it's not everyone's style. It's a lot darker than the musical
