Mon, 20 June 2005, 05:20 pmI've just purchased a CD of the soundtrack of SPAMALOT
Has anyone else had a listen yet
Tim Currie is always a lot of fun as is Hank Azaria
but a couple of the songs are priceless
Have a listen to 'Once in Every show' (the song that goes like this
Lots of fun

Yes, yes, many times yes!
> Tim Currie is always a lot of fun as is Hank Azaria
David Hyde Pierce is a hoot, and that is him playing the Piano cadenza in "You won't succeed on Broadway"
Apparently they have now changed Sara Ramirez's line in "The Diva's Lament"
rather than "I've no Grammy no rewards and no Tony Awards"
(which is now redundant, congrats Ms Ramirez)
her line is "My Tony Award won't keep me out of Betty Ford's"

I actually found I didn't laugh as much as I thought I would...
But I could tell that was because a lot of the jokes would have been visual.
> Lots of fun
Amen to that.

Re: Spamalot
I think 'Once in Every Show' is sung in a boat with a big Chandelier overhead..
Love that change of line in 'The Diva's Lament'
I saw one review that thought the show was a bit demeaning for Ms Ramirez as she has done some great stuff.... but I thought the role gave her a chance to show off many different talents... I think it would be a lot of fun
One review said he was sure the lyrics were good but couldn't hear them over the laughter at the choreograhy
Must find a way to see this show
Put it on my list with Wicked and Avenue Q

Re: Spamalot
Glossop appears to have stolen my list! The closest i've come to watching Wicked is reading the script while listening to the soundtrack. Not really the same unfortunately....

Wicked is coming to Australia either in 2006 or 2007. But for those of you in Perth, i'm not sure if it is going to leave the East Coast. GFO have the rights. they also have the rights to Hairspray.

Hi
I've just returned from New York where I saw Spamalot. The show is even better than the CD. It contains all the priceless Python scenes like the discussion about coconuts and the African swallow, the Knights that go "Nih", the balcony scene with the French and the dismembering scene on the bridge " ("Just a flesh wound". There was a standing ovation. Non-stop laughing.
Are you aware of any planned performances in Australia?

Re: Spamalot
I think you will actually find it is Louise Withers who has the rights to Wicked.

It's agony: the tragedy is that my arse has turned to spam and the only thoing that will hold my spare tyres in nowadays would be a can - cloth couldn't cope!
I have become spam - a lot!

Honestly, not a huge fan of the CD. I reserve comment on the show until I've been able to see it live (yeah, like thats gonna happen in the near future) but its just not my type of humour I guess.
I do enjoy listening to any track featuring Sara Ramirez however. She's just a pleasure to listen to, due to her fantastic voice and multitude of characterisations.

I still enjoy the CD every now and then...God I'd love to see some of these shows...
My wife and I are currently supporting my daughter's Mucical Theatre BA in Queensland (and we're in SA) so the chances of getting to Broadway are remote
I'd love them to come but I guess they'd all end up as Arena productions (not my favourite flavour)

Spamalot I love it
I doubt that the rights will be released even for pro's for some years. Last I heard it was booking so well in New York they had no plans for it to go anywhere for years. If we do get it in Oz we won't get it in Adelaide and I don't like your chances in perth. Amateur? Not this ten years or possiby twenty.
