Geelong Lyric Theatre Society is extremely happy to announce its main production team for:
Les Miserables for the Ford Theatre October 05 season.
Director: Martin Croft
Musical Director: Amy Wert
Designer: Laurie Lane
Producer: Derek Ingles
Securing the services of Martin Croft is a fantastic coup the company. He brings to us such an amazing wealth of experience, which will surely have an astonishing consequence with the upcoming production of Les Miserables- 2005.
He has starred in most of the major shows of the last 25 years in Australia, the UK and USA including: LES MISERABLES, GODSPELL, CATS, MISS SAIGON, and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERAÂ…
MartinÂ’s recent credits as director are as resident director for LES MISERABLES (Asia/South Africa Tour), THE BOY FROM OZ (Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth), and OLIVER (Cameron Mackintosh Australia /Singapore) and as director for INTO THE WOODS IN CONCERT at MelbourneÂ’s Regent Theatre.
Amy Wert returns to Australia and Geelong Lyric to musically direct. Amy has been busy in Syracuse, New York USA finishing a Masters of Musical Performance in Conducting Amy musically directed for Les Mis in 2000 at Costa Hall, as well as Geelong LyricÂ’s Annie, King and I, Into the Woods, Fiddler on the RoofÂ… as well as numerous school and Doorstep shows. Amy along with Mark Irwin won best MD at the State Music Theatre Awards in 2002 for Into the Woods.
Laurie LaneÂ’s design fineness is called upon once more- a talent that is often these days at work else where in the country and in the USA. An accomplished director, choreographer and designer who for Geelong Lyric has designed for Les Miserables last time in Costa Hall, Hello Dolly, King and I, My Fair Lady, Oliver, How to Succeed, Cole, Fiddler 95, Forum 93, Pirates 92Â… as well as directing those last fourÂ…
Derek Ingles has been president of Geelong Lyric for the past five years and has been in a producing role for: Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods, Hello Dolly, King and I and How to succeedÂ… as well as many marketing and set and admin roles for numerous productions.
The committee is now keen to fill the roles of coordinators for the set, wardrobe, prop, marketing, publicity, and hair and make up areas and their assistants.
Auditions for the production will be held late May- an info night on Tues May 10 at 7.30 @ Belmont Park Pavilion crn of Barrabool Road and High Street, Belmont, Geelong
