Re: funny musicals

I quite like "Air" from "Hair", with its clever anti-pollution message.

Re: funny musicals

How about ' Nobody does it like me' by Elaine Stritch in the musical Company. Or 'Tap your troubles away' from Mac and Mabel

Aargh!!! Why, oh my god why!!!
Two words I want you to remember: ANGELA LANSBURY

"...or the stage production of Company"

If you are in WA there is a little shop in Claremont called That's Entertainment which happens to have (or did as of Thursday) both the original cast of "Company" and the original cast of "Mame" with ANGELA LANSBURY, you never know they may also have a copy of the film soundtrack (why? I don't know) but if they have I've obviously repressed any memory of seeing it...

Which song?!

Funniest Musicals:
The Producers
Avenue Q
Once Upon a Mattress
The Musical of Musicals! The Musical
Das Barbecu

Funniest Songs (not from the above musicals):
"Loathing" and "Popular" Wicked
"Salzburg" Secrets Every Smart Traveller Should Know
"The Boy From..." The Mad Show
"I'm Not Getting Married Today" Company
"It's Hot Up Here" Sunday in the Park with George
"The Game" Damn Yankees
"Class" Chicago

Songs that possibly aren't at all funny but they amuse me :-)
"Moving Uptown" The Wild Party (LaChiusa)
"Glitter and Be Gay" Candide
"The Arrival of the First Class Passengers" Titanic
"The Frog Chorus" The Frogs
"A Call from the Vatican" Nine

Re: funny musicals

Urinetown!
It is by far the cleverest, funniest, most irreverent thing i've ever seen or heard! I literally ran to the toilet at interval!

Re: funny musicals

yeah I remember Angela Landsbury doesn't everyone?? but that doesn't happen to be the one I'm looking for. Lucille Ball sings the duet Bosom Buddies with the incomparable Bea Arthur a delightful bitching session set to music from the musical Mame. Unfortunately this song has been edited from any excisting copies of the film

Still... WHY!!!

Its the incomparable Bea Arthur on BOTH versions!!!
(Who, by the way, also plays Yente on the OCR of Fiddler on the Roof)

The Lansbury/Arthur bitch fest is sooo much better...

Although, if you already HAVE the OCR, then out of respect for a completionist I retract my statements...
(Hey, I've got four different versions of Fiddler...)

Re: funny musicals

Yup I know Bea is on both versions geesh can't a body ask a simple question? I have the original recording with Lansbury and Arthur ( it's still in print) but the film soundtrack (Ball/Arthur) is far more difficult to get, and like most out of print versions very rare to get in it's entirety, this is why I wish to track it down.... besides you may have your preference ( Lansbury/ Arthur) but some people may prefer (Ball/Arthur) so why is that such a problem?
