It's coming, it's not coming, it's coming, it's delayed. The rumours regarding the possible Australian production of the Broadway musical Hairspray continue to pump out thick and fast, but the truth of the matter is not even the production company in charge of the show know if it's coming or not.
SEL confirmed today that they had the rights to the show, and said there are tentative plans to bring it to Australia in 2006, however nothing has been confirmed. "At this stage no dates or theatres have been confirmed," an SEL/GFO spokesperson said today.
Rumours about the arrival of Hairspray have been about since the show swept the 2003 Tony Awards.
