DID YOU MISS OUT ON WAAPA/NIDA MUSIC THEATRE
Wed, 5 Jan 2005, 04:42 pmCODA is a one-year part-time intensive, comprehensive singing and acting course held at SING OVER KING in Newtown, Sydney. It is designed for multi-skilled performers pursuing broad based careers as professionals in Theatre, Music Theatre, Cabaret, Contemporary Music and Film/TV. It is taught by industry professionals, with high levels of expertise in their own field.
Together with directors Darren Mapes and Linda Nagle, tutors and guest tutors are drawn from a pool of acclaimed artists including: KELLYE ABBEY, RHONDA BURCHMORE, MAGGIE DENCE, JULIAN GOUGH, DEBORAH KENNEDY, MAX LAMBERT, LORNA LESLEY, LEX MARINOS, PETER MOCHRIE, PHILIP SCOTT, GERALDINE TURNER, JACKIE WEAVER, AND JACK WEBSTER.
The course commences in February and has a maximum class intake of 10. Students attend 4 terms of 10 weeks Mondays and Tuesdays 10am to 4pm.
Successful students from SING OVER KING have been cast in GREASE, WE WILL ROCK YOU, LION KING, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, THE PRODUCERS, SOUTH PACIFIC, MAMMA MIA, THE TIME OF MY LIFE, LEADER OF THE PACK, THE FULL MONTY, OLIVER, GET HAPPY, HOT SHOE SHUFFLE, THREEPENNY OPERA, FAME, SHOUT, and THE BOY FROM OZ as well as SECRET LIFE OF US, POP STARS AND AUSTRALIAN IDOL.
Final round of AUDITIONS will be held in the week commencing 24th Jan by appointment. There are only a couple of places left. Applicants will be required to prepare two songs (with sheet music in the correct key), one Pop song , one Music Theatre - and will be expected to do a cold read on the day. Preference will be given to applicants with competent dance skills, however this is not a pre-requisite. Students need to show a commitment to complete the entire year's study. The course will commence on the 31st January 2005.
