The year will begin with an homage to one of the greatest duos of our times - The Carpenters. RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS - THE SONGS OF THE CARPENTERS takes the audience down memory lane rediscovering the songs that so rightly made these artists so unforgettable to a generation. With only three shows (10, 11, 12 Feb), its bound to be a sell out so get in early! Stars Hayley Binks, Ali Bodycoat, Bree McGurk and Simon Holt. (Tickets available now $27.50/$22.50)
Next is a new work by composer Simon Holt entitled ANTHEMS FOR DOOMED YOUTH. Simon has set to music some of the most prolific poetry of World War I. We hope that you will come along and participate in this World Premiere at the Blue Room Studio in April.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken) is sure to be a hit in July. A classic story of Faustian magnitude where mild-mannered Seymour discovers an exotic little plant with a strange and unusual appetite. The plant is growing remarkably fast - and so is Seymour's love for Audrey, his co-worker at the flower shop. But she has a boyfriend...and the plant has a bloodthirsty secret that threatens the entire planet.
Back to cabaret in September with yellow glass theatre putting those baddies under the spotlight as only they can with UPON THE WICKED STAGE. This production celebrates those characters we love to hate. So come alongÂ… if you dare!
The season ends with one of Stephen SondheimÂ’s most popular yet rarely performed gems - COMPANY. Considered a breakthrough musical when first produced, it still remains just as fresh and original today whilst examining the themes of marriage, commitment, friendship and loneliness. Its innovative form stamps it as a landmark in modern musical theatre. DonÂ’t miss it in November.
