Director/Producer sought
Tue, 16 Nov 2004, 08:10 amHello,
We are staging a musical in the Midsumma Festival in Feb 2005 and require a Director and a Producer to come on board with some enthusiasm.
The musical is called 'I do, in Caroline Springs'.
It's a farcical story about a gay marriage in that very suburb. The couple in question are Borge and Alan. Borge is a mechanic, Alan is a singer with a beautiful voice which he can't fully express until Borge declares his love and asks for Alan's hand in marriage.
But the local 'family values' Senator has schemed to make it impossible for Borge to do so. If Alan were to start singing his free thinking songs, it would jeopardise his burgeoning Christian rock empire, and he can not afford for that to happen.
Thus ensues hijinks and a happy ending. It's light and camp and hopefully funny with a political message which is salient to the times, but by no means didactic. I think queer is the word we're looking for.
If anyone is interested I would love to hear from you as soon as possible.
Cheers,
Julian.
