Can any of you music theatre buffs help me?
Mon, 25 Oct 2004, 12:44 pmI'm desperatley seeking the sheet music to the song "I'm UNlucky in Gambling" from Cole Porter's musical 50 Million Frenchmen. It's not in the Academy library or the Alexander. Does anyone know where else I could look for it??

I know it's not always feasible/cheap to buy sheet music - but have you looked in a music shop like Zenith Music (309 Stirling Hwy Claremont) or Tempest Music (1/69 Manning Rd Como). They are great stores.
Other ideas:
Music Finder (Upstairs 414 Murray St Perth) www.musicfinder.com.au
Music Park (341 Albany Hwy Vic Park)
Theo's (4 Southport St West Leederville) www.theosmusic.com.au
My fave alternative:
2nd hand bookstores or sales (Save the Children Booksale). Yes, this does take a bit of trawling through boxes, but you can find some great scores for $5-10 or sheet music for $1-2. They are usually in brilliant or average condition. I picked up a Cole Porter easy-play collection some years ago. I don't remember all the songs in it, but I'll have a look when I get home.
Hope this has given you a broader range of options/ideas.

I have found my book (after looking for ages): no I don't have the song. Sorry about that.

That's cool, a friend of mine has a Cole Porter rediscovered book that has a copy of the song so it should be all good!
Thanks so much for your help though!!

The State Library DOES have a copy. I have just checked their website - look under songs in the catalogue. I see you already have a copy, but just confirming that they're pretty spot on for finding songs.
