Stage Schools
Sat, 25 Sept 2004, 11:37 pmHey All,
I am heading to London next year and I would love to try out for a stage school.
Know of any good ones? How much experience do you need and does it get you anywhere?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks dudes
Brian

hey brian,
there are so many stage schools in london you can hardly turn around without bumping into one. now as for experience it does depend on individual schools, most schools however are looking for people they can teach, people who are open to learning and trying new things and hey a little bit of talent doesnt hurt either!
as for some good ones...
well it depends who you talk to, obviously a previous student of an institution is going to recommend their own school first and someone who may have been rejected may try and put that same school down... i havent been trained in any london stage school so i have gathered my information mostly from research on the internet and also from going to shows and seeing where the performers themselves trained...
Good Ones???
if i were you i would check out "the stage", its an english newspaper containing ads for the schools and auditions and reveiws of plays etc etc. the online address is www.thestage.co.uk
otherwise a good option is to go to http://www.drama.ac.uk/ this has a list of all the accredited courses availible in the uk...
the only school i would personally recommend is the italia conti, this is considered extremely prestigous, great three-pronged approached... there are quite a few west-end performers from this school...
but it is quite expensive... other schools do offer great courses, its just a matter of finding the one that suits you... hope this helps some! goodluck!
