hey everyone,
id really apreciate any advice anyone can give me on choosing audition material, (in the way of songs), is there anything i should avoid? any particular songs that are overused? or any songs that you know of that give a real punch?any help would be greatly appreciated!

it really depends on what the audition is for.... i have been told to avoid anything from A CHROUS LINE....... apparently songs from it are a big NO NO!
also try and avoid narrative songs (songs that have a strong storyline where the ending is very conclusive and vital to the song) this being because you may not get to sing the whole thing.

try and build up a portfolio of songs that your are comfortable with and know well enough to perform. bring this to every audtion; that way if they want to hear something else you are armed with all of your best work!! this portfolio of songs should include a variety of material from ballads to uptempo etc.

you haven't specified your range or what you are audtioning for so i hope this little advice sees you well.

good luck!
