I came over from Sydney and saw the show - wrote the following to the Editor of the Adelaide Advertiser:

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Recently visiting Adelaide from Sydney I was prompted to also re-visit an old favourite - Les Miserables which I hadn't seen since the mid-90s in Sydney.
The show was supposedly an amateur production, but I think that's a somewhat misleading title - more correctly a charity-raising production. There was absolutely nothing amateur about this wonderful Adelaide show.
It should be a source of joy and great pride that Adelaide can supply such a cast of fantastic singers and all-round performers any one of who could take their place comfortably on the world theatrical stage.
Apart from Normie Rowe (who needs no introduction or further accolades) the roles of Fantine and Eponine (Fiona Bailey and Michelle Pearson) were truly outstanding, as was Matthew Randell as Javert and the Thenardiers were both highly enjoyable and extremely talented. I'm not sure how old the little Collette was, but young Lucy Cary was amazing and has a great future if she wishes.
All the songs were terrific and the show was so stirring (I'd forgotten just how stirring as I scrambled for my tissues at the conclusion!!)
If that's the calibre of 'amateur' productions in your neck of the woods, I'm coming over specially for next year's performance!
Rhonda
