My name is Kelly James. I have just finished come back from our first World Premier in Melbourne.
The musical is called Jump Sugar Jump. Its a spectacular Swing Dancing musical set in 1943.
A Little Overview on the show...

Set in Melbourne in 1943, It tells of the battle for ownership of Australian women between the American Marines and the Australian Diggers who returned from overseas to find many of their wives, girlfriends and sisters dating the Yanks. And to get the US Marines and Diggers getting along, the General decides to put on a swing dance competition.
It shows the tale of Bluey who has recently returned from overseas to find his girlfriend Irene has been swooned my a US Marine. The story continues as Bluey sets to win back Irene, by learning how to Swing taught by head of the Tivoli lovlie girls, Suzi, and finds out that things might not be so bad on the other side....

We have 22 Original Swing Songs written by Simon Bartlett of John Morrison (James MorrisonÂ’ brother) Premier Swing band, Swing City.
After a fabulous show in Melbourne, i have been asked by our writer Allen Wilde, to put the show on here in Sydney for December.
Our Main goal is set for JUNE 2005, where we will be having our professional show with James Morrisons evolvement.
Below are the roles available and the requirements, if you are interested in Auditioning or know of any one who would be interested in being apart of this once in a lifetime opportunity, please contact me on the details below.
The Yanks
Marvin - (major) Age 18-25
Smooth Talking yank, full of charm and confidence. Steals Irene from Bluey.
Requirements - Strong Jazz & Stage Background, confidence, some acting exp. Swing/Jive or Rock and roll dancing experience will be highly regarded, but not an necessity.
Tommy Henderson - (major) Age 25-35
Tommy is the band leader, very crude and speaks his mind, has a thing for Ticky, a real big flirt.
Requirements - Jazz/blues Singing background, no dancing exp necessary, confident
General Douglas Macarther (minor) Age 40+
The hard talking american general, tough and witty.
Requirements - Acting exp only.
the aussies
Bluey - (major) Age 16-22
Patriotic, bit arogent and agro. Wants to win Irene by learning how to dance. Falls for Suzi Q
Requirements - Strong Jazz & Stage Background, confidence, Acting exp. Swing/Jive or Rock and roll dancing experience will be highly regarded, but not an necessity.
Betty - (minor) Age 14-22
cool and patriotic. In love with Jack. doesnÂ’t like the marines. a bit of wet blanket.
Requirements - Jazz & Stage Background, confidence, some acting exp. Swing/Jive or Rock and roll dancing experience will be highly regarded, but not an necessity.
Jack - (major) Age 18-25
Jack, BlueyÂ’s Best mate. Very Patriotic and in love with Betty.
Requirements - Jazz & Stage Background, confidence, some acting exp. Swing/Jive or Rock and roll dancing experience will be highly regarded, but not an necessity.
Sargent Charlie - (major) Age 28+
Sargent General, Very Hard and stricked, helps get the boys into shape for the dance competition
SUZI Q - (major) Age 18-25
Very smooth and confident lady, head of the show girls, partners Bluey in the Swing contest, finds she falls for bluey
Requirements- this is a strong dancing role. Needs to have a Jazz / Tap Exp, and acting experience. Swing / Jive or RcR Dancer will be highly regarded
TIVOLI LOVLIES - 3 girls needed to be the the showgirls. Strong Jazz & Tap background, preferably from the same dance school.
We also need 4 Swing Dancing Couples as well for background dancers
And 1 Swing Dancer Female (To partner Fred)
Thank you for taking the time to view this post. Audition date will be set late August and rehearsals will commence straight away, although this is an amateur show, we have had interest from David Atkins to produce the show next year, and he will be seeing how the amateur shows progress during this time. So please do not audition if you have no intention of putting 100% into this production.
NOTE - I will send out a universal email to all those who reply to this enquiry once a date has been set.

I am interested in auditioning.I am a nineteen year old female who has sung and danced since I was three.I have many years of jazz training and have had a couple of years of tap and other types of dance.Could you please send me more information .It soundswonderful.I have played Grace Farrell in amatuer production of the musical Annie.Also studied Drama,Music and Dance for HSC at the McDonald Performing arts College.Presently studying music performance at JMC Academy.
