WellÂ… what did people think?

Thanks to those [insert appropriate adjective]s at Fox, the repeat in the evening was an edited down version, so I missed out on the excerpts from “Assassins” and “Caroline, or Change” as well as ALL the plays! [Kimmy, I may have to pinch your copy anyway…]

“Wicked”
Looks interesting, must admit I didnÂ’t think much of what I saw when I saw it [Great production and performances though] although I have been singing Defying Gravity to myself for a third of the day so far. So maybe a second viewing is required. Anyone know any more of the plot?

“Avenue Q”
Heh heh heh. This looked so COOL!!! I want to see it! I want to do it! I want to play Brian! Any one know any more about this one? The reason I’ve only been singing “Defying Gravity” for a third of the day is for the rest of the time it’s been “It Sucks to Be Me”

“Big River”
Gosh, didnÂ’t that look like an interesting production! Would have liked to have seen that one, good idea too!

“Wonderful Town”
HmmÂ… All I could think was how much of what Donna Murphy was doing was actually the character, and how much was just an impersonation of Rosalind Russell from the original?

Paul “Award Show Junkie” Treasure

PS Does the award to the Idina Menzel from “Wicked” mean that all of the female acting awards went to women of colour?

hi all

long, long time since I've been on here!

well yes Paul, the Tony Awards were fantastic and yes VERY annoying that Fox deleted so much of the show!!!! (but managed to watch a taping of the entire evening later on) and 'Assassins' was great. 'Caroline, or Change' looked good but very depressing. So much angst!

now 'Wicked' - it is a fantastic show Paul. The novel is even better. Extremely funny. Some friends of mine saw it in NYC and said it was absolutely amazing. The plot - the 'true' story of the life of the Wicked Witch of the West. Her life story basically.

Avenue Q is probably one of the funniest and cleverest (is that such a word!) musicals around. It is so un-PC it's fantastic!
Especially with songs like "I'm not wearing underwear today", "If you were gay", and "Everyones a little bit racist".

I have both productions on CD and can certainly recommend getting them for all die hard musical fans out there.

Oh, and how incredibly bad was Phylicia Rashad's acceptance speech!!! There was not an ounce of 'GRACE' in it!!! It was awful!(you had to be there)

Well, thats about it from me - hope all is going well over in Perth.
Heard that Playlover's 'Grease' was excellent - yay Alex! Well done Playlovers. All the best Sonni for " A little Night Music" (and to anyone else I know who is in it)

cheers
dave
