Hey,

I'm going to be applying for a role in an upcoming production of Grease. One of the requirements for the audition is that I should sing a song from that era in time - 50s.

I'm young, so a little unknowledgeable about that time :)

If anyone could suggest a few songs for me to try out? I can mainly sing soporano/alto, but it depends on the song.

Thanks

Re: Grease Audition Piece

A few songs I would suggest are
The Shoop Shoop song - Cher
Rockin Robin
Great Balls of fire (if your a guy)

Or why not try a song from Grease itself

Re: Grease Audition Piece

I'm going to have a similar problem. Later on in the year I'm auditioning for Fame, and one of the requirements is to choose a song that is similar - ie, rock'n'roll etc.

Can anyone help me out too?

Re: Fame Audition Piece

Songs that I think are similar to Irene Cara's 'Fame' are;

Pat Benetar - All Fired Up
Pointer Sisters - Im So Excited
Tina Turner - Typical Male

Or other songs by those artists, maybe some Belinda Carlisle or Cindy Lauper - I have a morbid appreciation for cheesy 80s female power songs though I er.. mostly get into old soul music!. I'm not sure about Greasy tracks.
